Apple’s “Awe Dropping” showcase is upon us. The curtain rises today at 6:00pm BST / 1:00pm ET / 10:00am PT (Tuesday, 9 September), with whispers of a bumper line-up: four iPhones, new Apple Watches and the next-gen AirPods Pro 3.
While Apple will have plenty to say, the rumour mill suggests the scene-stealer could be the iPhone 17 Air—a strikingly slender handset said to measure around 5.5mm thick, which would make it the thinnest iPhone to date. Expect it to command the limelight.

Headline announcements we’re expecting
iPhone 17 family
- iPhone 17 & iPhone 17 Air
The Air is the fresh face in the range and, if the thickness rumours hold, a feat of engineering that should appeal to buyers who favour lightness and elegance. - iPhone 17 Pro & iPhone 17 Pro Max
Anticipate a sharper, more purposeful design with an extended camera bar to house a new 48MP telephoto. Leaks point to an up-to-8× zoom range (optical + computational) alongside the usual Pro-class upgrades to display and chipset.
Wearables & audio
- Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3
Both are tipped for meaningful health features—blood-pressure monitoring has been floated—plus performance refinements and new finishes. - AirPods Pro 3
Rumoured redesign with smarter noise control and tighter integration with iOS.
Also rumoured (lower certainty)
- Apple Watch SE 3
- AirTags 2
- Apple TV 4K (2025 refresh)
- HomePod with display
Why the iPhone 17 Air matters
Apple rarely introduces a brand-new tier. If the Air lands as billed—ultra-thin, full-fat performance, premium display—it could become the go-to model for those who want Pro-level sophistication without the bulk of the Pro Max.
